Nutella Ice Cream

Ingredients

- two cups of whole milk
- One cup of heavy cream, split
- Four huge yolks from eggs
- Half a teaspoon of extract from vanilla
- Half a cup of chocolate-hazelnut spread (like Nutella®)
- One ounce of crushed hazelnuts, or more as garnish
Directions
of Nutella Ice Cream
- Heat a pot with milk, cream, and 1/2 cup sugar over medium heat. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the sugar melts.
- Using an electric mixer, beat egg yolks and remaining sugar in a bowl until the eggs are thick and pale yellow, about 4 minutes.
- After mixing the egg mixture, add 1/2 cup of the heated milk mixture. Return the mixture to the saucepan. Simmer the mixture over very low heat, stirring frequently, for 7 to 10 minutes, or until it thickens enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon.
- The warm custard mixture should be poured through a strainer that is placed over a bowl. Add the hazelnut spread and vanilla, stirring until it melts.
- Let the mixture cool fully for about an hour. Pour into an ice cream maker and churn for 15 to 20 minutes, or until frozen per the manufacturer’s directions.
- Before serving, transfer to a plastic container and freeze for one hour. When serving, sprinkle crushed hazelnuts over top.
